SUXING ZHANG B. 1988

Suxing Zhang (张素行) is a Chinese visual artist based in Sydney, Australia. Zhang’s practice explores the intersection of history, memory, and cultural identity. Through the medium of collage and painting, Zhang reinterprets historical photographs from Australia and China, interweaving them with personal memories to create new narratives that bridge shared histories and cultural connections.

Zhang’s work invites viewers to reflect on the fluidity of time and the enduring resonance of collective and personal stories. Blending classical techniques with contemporary approaches, Zhang’s art transforms static subjects into dynamic explorations of identity and place. By engaging with cross-cultural dialogue, Zhang seeks to foster a deeper understanding of the ties that bind diverse communities. Zhang’s practice is deeply rooted in the belief that art can serve as a powerful medium for connection, offering fresh perspectives on the past while illuminating the present.
